Norit Americas Awarded Twelve Mercury Control Systems
June 18, 2007 - Marshall, TX – Norit Americas Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply twelve activated carbon injection (“ACI”) systems for mercury control at coal-fired power plants in Illinois. All units will be delivered in 2008.
“This contract is a significant event in our company’s history in supplying injection systems and carbon to the power industry for controlling mercury emissions,” said Ron Thompson, CEO of Norit Americas. “Since the beginning of the mercury control market for coal-fired utilities, Norit Americas has won in excess of 35 contracts to supply injection systems, more than any other company. To date, this is by far, the single largest contract in the industry.”
This new contract for twelve systems marks a turning point in the industry as Norit Americas competed directly for the utility’s business against several respected companies. Norit Americas’ design is well proven and clearly the performance and value leader. Norit Americas’ has previously supplied systems to customers such as ADA-ES, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADES) and large engineering companies.
In addition to activated carbon injection systems, Norit also manufactures activated carbon in the United States and Europe, which has been tested in over 40 full-scale demonstrations for coal-fired utilities. Norit is the largest producer of powdered activated carbon world-wide.
