DARCO TRS Lignite Powdered Activated Carbon
DARCO TRS is a powdered activated carbon produced by steam activation of lignite coal under carefully controlled conditions. It has been tested and found to improve wet scrubbing of reduced sulfur from Kraft recovery stack gases. The same principal can be applied to other processes where removal of reduced sulfur is required. DARCO TRS performs best when it is added to an alkaline wet scrubbing solution. Its presence increases the rate of oxidation of reduced sulfur and removes undesirable sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans and disulfides from stack gases. Its action as a catalyst in the oxidation reaction between reduced sulfur and oxygen is what makes it unique.
